La Kalenbergergracht est un maillon dans la connexion navigable depuis Blokzijl et le Giethoornsche Meer jusqu'aux voies navigables frisonnes. Depuis le point où la Heuvengracht et la Heer van Diezenvaart se rencontrent, la Kalenbergergracht s'étire vers le nord-ouest le long de Kalenberg et traverse la réserve naturelle De Weerribben jusqu'à Ossenzijl. À Ossenzijl, la Kalenbergergracht rejoint le canal Steenwijk-Ossenzijl. Le fossé Ossenzijlersloot relie ces voies navigables à la Linde, qui est connectée aux eaux frisonnes.
