Pal le Geul se trouve le Château Den Halder. C'est une tour résidentielle fortifiée qui se trouvait à l'époque contre les murailles médiévales de la ville. L'origine de la tour remonte donc au quatorzième siècle, lorsque Dirk IV de Valkenburg a commencé à reconstruire les murs de la ville.
Plus tard, elle a été transformée en tour résidentielle, ce qui impliquait qu'un étage a été ajouté et des tours d'angle ont été incorporées. Une partie du domaine d'origine est maintenant aménagée en parc urbain.
