La Tour des Accises a un plan carré et est construite en briques avec des bandes de pierre naturelle. La tour a une cloche. C'était au départ une sorte de bureau des impôts. Les marchandises importées devaient y être déclarées, les accises qu'elles engendraient constituaient une source de revenus importante pour la ville.
