Le musée Jopie Huisman collecte, préserve et exhibe des dessins, des peintures et des collections du peintre et ancien marchand de fer et de chiffons Jopie Huisman.
Depuis son enfance, Jopie Huisman a dessiné ce qu'il voit autour de lui et ce qui le touche. Des portraits de ses jeunes années montrent sa famille, puis également des concitoyens de Workum.
Le 29 septembre 2000, Jopie Huisman est décédé.
