L'origine du nom peut être déduite d'une contraction de deux mots, à savoir Arenborg et del, une petite dépression ou cuvette en forme de bol. Le parc est situé au sommet de la falaise, sur la haute terrasse de la Meuse.
Le parc est entouré par l'A67 au nord, la route Herungerberg avec le café Backus à l'est, un petit quartier résidentiel avec des rues nommées d'après les principaux acteurs de l'incident de Venlo au sud et la terrasse basse à l'ouest.
