El origen del nombre se puede deducir de una contracción de dos palabras, a saber, Arenborg y del, una pequeña depresión en forma de cuenco o hoyo. El parque se encuentra en la cima del borde pronunciado, en la alta terraza del Mosa.
El parque está rodeado por la A67 al norte, la carretera Herungerberg con el café Backus al este, un pequeño barrio residencial con calles nombradas en honor a los protagonistas del incidente de Venlo al sur y la terraza baja al oeste.
