Le village de Blaricum, tout comme Laren, a conservé une grande partie du caractère d'origine d'un village de prairie avec des fermes. Depuis le début du vingtième siècle, de riches Amstellodamois et des artistes se sont installés à Blaricum, ce qui a modifié le caractère du village. La plupart des fermes ont perdu leur vocation agricole et ont été transformées en maisons de luxe.
