À la fin du XIIIe siècle, on commença la construction d'un petit édifice religieux en tuf. Sur le côté nord, il y avait une annexe servant de sacristie. La tour était également en tuf. Après 1450, l'église romane fut agrandie dans le style gothique tardif avec des briques, devenant une pseudobasilique avec deux collatéraux, couverts par une voûte en bois. La tour, haute de cinquante-cinq mètres, fut construite en 1527 dans un style dérivé de la cathédrale de Utrecht. Une tour presque identique a été construite à Eemnes-Buiten. Au XVIIe siècle, une chapelle a été ajoutée du côté sud.
