Fort Altena
À l'origine, ce fort, qui a été construit entre 1840 et 1850 au sud-est de Sleeuwijk, était désigné sous le nom de Fort Altena. La redoute ronde en terre, avec une tour autonome à l'épreuve des bombes, était entourée d'un fossé avec un pont-levis.
Qu'est-ce que c'est
Fort Altena est situé au Tol à Werkendam et appartient au Paysage Brabançon. Ces dernières années, il est devenu la porte récréative du Pays de Heusden et Altena. Après une restauration intensive, le fort a été restauré dans toute sa gloire et combine désormais harmonieusement récréation, nature et histoire.
