Ce bâtiment a servi de mairie de la commune de Margraten entre 1954 et 1985. Le bâtiment sert maintenant de siège au cabinet comptable Euregio HabetsRoyen.
L'ancienne commune de Margraten avant la réorganisation communale en 1982 était composée du village de Margraten et des hameaux de Groot Welsden, Klein Welsden, 't Rooth et Termaar. Après la réorganisation communale de 1982, les anciennes communes de Cadier et Keer, Noorbeek, Mheer et Sint Geertruid y ont été ajoutées. Le village de Scheulder a également été ajouté à la commune de Margraten, qui faisait partie de la commune de Wijlre jusqu'en 1982.
