Il y a deux possibilités. Le nom est dérivé d'un joon dans l'eau. C'est un petit tonneau flottant avec un bâton dessus, comme un repère dans le canal. Et puis il y a la légende du moine franciscain Jona. Il est venu s'installer ici et a nommé l'endroit Jonen.
