La station Heemstede-Aerdenhout est la seule gare de la commune de Heemstede et se trouve sur l'Ancienne Ligne, entre Leiden et Haarlem, à côté de la Leidsevaart.
La station est située à l'emplacement de l'ancienne maison de péage Heemstede sur la Leidsevaart. Elle a été initialement ouverte en 1872 en tant qu'arrêt "imposé" et a été fermée après 8 ans. Elle a ensuite été rouverte le 1er octobre 1891 en tant qu'arrêt Zandvoortsche Laan, qui a de nouveau été supprimé en 1903. En 1928, l'arrêt "Heemstede-Aerdenhout" a été inauguré, remplacé en 1958 par la gare actuelle à viaduc. Cette station a été conçue par l'architecte des stations Koen van der Gaast.
