Après la Leusder Heide, vous vous promenez dans un paysage varié de forêts et de landes, en passant devant quelques fermes. Les prairies environnantes sont des tourbières asséchées : Langeveen, Waswater et Hazenwater. Et le Vogelwater, qui était jusqu'à récemment De Droogmakerij. Lors de la nouvelle excavation de cette assèchement en 2017, des restes d'une forêt primaire, âgés d'environ 12 900 ans, ont été découverts. Au total, 160 pins ont été fouillés, atteignant jusqu'à 18 m de haut et plus de 167 ans. L'une des plus anciennes – et bien conservées – forêts primaires des Pays-Bas !
