Oud-Charlois est le noyau historique du quartier de Charlois à Rotterdam. Oud-Charlois est délimité à l'est par la Dorpsweg, au sud par la Kromme Zandweg, à l'ouest par le site de la Waalhaven-Oostzijde et au nord par la Nieuwe Maas.
En 1460, Charles le Téméraire ordonna d'assainir le polder Rijerwaert. Lorsqu'il approuva le 14 avril 1462 l'acte de transfert du polder Rijerwaert à quatre propriétaires fonciers, il y joignit deux conditions, à savoir :
