L'étang devant le Maartenskerk à Wemeldinge servait d' abreuvoir pour le bétail , un "vaete" en zélandais.

D'un côté se trouve une large rampe pavée pour un accès facile à l'eau pour le bétail. La fontaine dans l'étang est une œuvre d'art de Juul Kortekaas.
