Le port de Funchal est le port et l'hébergement de Funchal et est fréquemment utilisé comme une escale par les navires transatlantiques, en route depuis l'Europe vers les Caraïbes, car c'est l'île atlantique la plus au nord qui se trouve sur le chemin des alizés.
Le port de Funchal était le seul port majeur de Madère jusqu'en 2007, lorsqu'il est devenu entièrement dédié au transport de passagers – navires de croisière et ferries – ainsi qu'à d'autres bateaux et yachts liés au tourisme. Cette année-là, toutes les activités de pêche restantes et le commerce de marchandises ont été déplacés vers le nouveau port de Caniçal, à 12 mi à l'est.
