Les Anciens Palais du Conseil de Caminha datent du XVIe siècle . Le bâtiment a été construit à une époque où Caminha connaissait une prospérité économique et stratégique , en partie grâce à sa situation sur le fleuve Minho et à sa proximité avec l'océan Atlantique.
Le bâtiment abritait autrefois l' ancien hôtel de ville. L' étage supérieur servait de salle de réunion pour le conseil municipal, tandis que le rez-de-chaussée servait temporairement de marché au pain et à la farine.
Aujourd'hui (2024) il abrite l'office de tourisme.
