De Antigos Paços do Concelho van Caminha dateren uit de 16e eeuw. Het gebouw werd opgetrokken in een periode waarin Caminha economische en strategische bloei kende, mede door haar ligging aan de rivier de Minho en nabijheid van de Atlantische Oceaan.
Het gebouw deed ooit dienst als het oude stadhuis van de stad. De bovenverdieping diende als vergaderruimte voor de gemeenteraad, terwijl de begane grond tijdelijk werd gebruikt als markt voor brood en meel.
Heden (2024) is de toerisctische dienst er in ondergebracht.
