La Fédération de Suède de hockey sur glace porte en suédois le nom de Svenska Ishockeyförbundet.
La fédération faisait partie de la Fédération de Suède de football et rejoint la Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace en 1920. La première équipe nationale participe alors à la première compétition mondiale de hockey : les Jeux Olympiques d'été. L'année suivante, la Suède reçoit la sixième édition du championnat d'Europe. Les deux seules équipes participant au tournoi sont la Suède et la Tchécoslovaquie.
