Cizre est une ville et un district de province de Şırnak dans la région de l'Anatolie du sud-est en Turquie, située sur les bords du Tigre
Cizre fut autrefois appelé en arabe Gazarta et Jazīrat Ibn ʿUmar . C'était une ville importante durant la période abbasside et pendant les croisades, car elle était un passage connectant la Haute Mésopotamie au Haut-plateau arménien.
