Kilis est une ville du sud-est de la Turquie, préfecture de la province du même nom, près de la frontière turco-syrienne.
Après la conquête de la Syrie par Sélim Ier en 1516, Kilis est gouvernée par une dynastie de begs kurdes, les Djanbulad , sandjakbey de 1516 à 1553, fait construire la mosquée ou tekke qui porte son nom.
