Séleucie de Piérie est une ville fondée par Séleucos Ier Nicator en Syrie antique. Elle est aussi appelé Séleucie sur l'Oronte.
La ville a été fondée par Séleucos Ier au début de son règne dans un geste global incluant une tétrapole. La ville a avant tout une vocation militaire, en tant que port d’Antioche. Son site, rejeté par les Phéniciens, était peu adapté à la création d'un port. Seule la capacité des Grecs à aménager des ports artificiels a permis son existence. Très vite, le port s'ensabla car trop proche de l’embouchure de l’Oronte et des alluvions dévalant la montagne directement dans le port. La ville fut aussi victime des conflits qui marquèrent la région : prise par les Lagides en 219 av. J.-C. ou guerres contre les Parthes, Sassanides et les Perses.
