Le comté de Santa Barbara est un comté situé sur la côte pacifique du Sud de l'État de Californie, aux États-Unis. Au recensement de 2000 le comté avait une population de 399 347 habitants. La population en janvier 2006 était, selon les estimations, de 421 625 personnes selon le California Department of Finance. Son chef-lieu est Santa Barbara.
Le territoire du comté fut habité pendant des millénaires par la tribu amérindienne des Chumash. C'est l'explorateur espagnol Sebastian Vizcaino qui nomma la région Santa Barbara lorsqu'il découvrit sa côte en 1602 car il entra dans la région le 4 décembre, le jour de la fête de Santa Barbara. La région avait cependant déjà été visitée par Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo en 1542.
