La Silicon Valley désigne le pôle des industries de pointe situé dans la partie sud de la région de la baie de San Francisco dans l'État de Californie, sur la côte ouest des États-Unis, dont San José est la plus grande ville. Fortement liée à la présence et au rayonnement de l'université Stanford et l'université de UC Berkeley, la Silicon Valley a inspiré bon nombre de technopoles dans le monde.
En anglais, l'expression « Silicon Valley » n'est généralement pas pourvue d'un article. Par contre, on parle plus simplement de « The Valley ». Même si cette région n'est pas une vallée à proprement parler, l'expression désigne souvent par métonymie, une zone géographique caractérisée par la présence importante d'entreprises évoluant dans les techniques de pointe.
