La Galerie des Cartes est un incontournable pour quiconque a un intérêt lointain pour les cartes. C'est un ensemble de peintures murales des cartes topographiques de toute l'Italie. C'était une idée du pape Grégoire XIII, et elle a été réalisée par le frère Ignazio Danti de Pérouse au XVIe siècle. Ce projet remarquable, commencé au début de 1580 et achevé environ 18 mois plus tard.
