La gare de Paris-Nord, dite aussi gare du Nord, constitue la tête de ligne parisienne du réseau ferroviaire desservant le Nord de la France, ainsi que les pays limitrophes. Du fait de la proximité de la Belgique, des Pays-Bas, de la Grande-Bretagne et de l'Allemagne, elle a toujours possédé une vocation internationale marquée, avant de voir son trafic régional se développer fortement. C'est, hors Japon, la première gare du monde en termes de trafic ; elle a accueilli 262 millions de voyageurs en 2015.
Ouverte en 1846 par la Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord en tant qu'embarcadère de la ligne de Paris-Nord à Lille, la gare constitue un « carrefour intermodal » majeur de la capitale, où coexistent trains à grande vitesse , trains de grandes lignes et TER Hauts-de-France, Transilien, RER, métro, bus, taxi et Vélib'.
