Gold Beach est le nom de code d'une des cinq plages du débarquement de Normandie le 6 juin 1944. Elle est située entre Asnelles et Ver-sur-Mer sur la côte occidentale du Calvados. Environ 25 000 hommes y ont débarqué le jour J. La plage, confiée aux Britanniques du 30e corps était divisée en quatre secteurs : Item, Jig, King et How mais ce dernier n'a pas été utilisé. Les objectifs ont été majoritairement remplis, une contre-attaque allemande fut même repoussée vers 16 h 30.
