Artašat è una città di circa 25.200 abitanti , capoluogo della provincia di Ararat in Armenia, sul fiume Aras nella valle dell'Ararat.
La città fu fondata non molto distante dal fiume Arsania, dal re d'Armenia Artaxias I nel 190 a.C., che ne fece poi la sua capitale, dietro consiglio di Annibale. Fu centro culturale e politico del Regno di Armenia fino alla sua caduta nel 428, quando il capoluogo venne spostato dai Sasanidi più a nord, a Dvin.
