Il comune si trova nella bassa Gailtal, vicino al confine con l'Italia, ed è delimitato a nord dalle Alpi della Gail e a sud dalle Alpi Carniche. Nel territorio comunale si trova il Lago di Pressegger , uno dei più caldi dell'Austria.
