Il Lago Hintersteiner è un lago di montagna nell'area protetta del Wilder Kaiser e appartiene al comune di Scheffau nello stato austriaco del Tirolo.
Il lago è nato durante l'ultima era glaciale e si trova a un'altitudine di 882 m s.l.m. Sorgenti sotterranee riempiono il lago con acqua cristallina. Il Lago Hintersteiner è di proprietà della Tiroler Wasserkraft AG e viene utilizzato per la produzione di elettricità. Il deflusso avviene nel fiume Weißache.
