Il maestoso paesaggio alpino si rivela in tutta la sua aspra bellezza: Zollspitze, Säulspitze, Bretterspitze, Kristallspitze, Kreuzwandspitze … tutte queste vette salutano con i loro tratti marcati gli escursionisti che percorrono questa tappa del Sentiero dell'aquila. Il sentiero, però, conduce dal rifugio Kalser Tauernhaus attraverso terreni dolci e la vallata amena delle cosiddette Dorferalmen: le malghe Schönebenalm, Bergeralm, Moaebenalm e Moaalm sono tipiche per il paesaggio idilliaco e per l'intatta attività agricola, e presso le loro baite si possono fare piacevoli pause ristoratrici. Successivamente la salita ci porta in direzione della valle Teischnitztal, il sentiero Herrensteig tocca il Figerhorn, la Freiwandspitze e il Fanotkogel per arrivare al rifugio Stüdlhütte ai piedi del Großglockner.
