La stazione fu aperta il 7 giugno 1977 per l'estensione del ramo sud della linea metropolitana 1 da Beaulieu. Fino al 23 marzo 1985 Demey era il punto finale sud-est della linea 1A, fino a quando non fu estesa di una fermata fino all'attuale capolinea Herrmann-Debroux.
Nel 2013 i marciapiedi furono rinnovati con rivestimenti in piastrelle, nuove panchine e lampade a parete rosse. Entrambi i marciapiedi furono dotati di un ascensore nel 2015.
