Il Forte di Eben-Emael fu costruito tra la Prima e la Seconda Guerra Mondiale ed era considerato il forte più forte del mondo. Tuttavia, gli aggressori tedeschi riuscirono a disabilitare il forte in un tempo record di un quarto d'ora durante la II Guerra Mondiale e dopo un giorno e mezzo di assedio, il forte dovette capitolare.
Il Forte di Eben-Emael è stato utilizzato come scenografia nella serie TV "Il Gusto del Keyser". Alfred e George arrivano qui nel 1939 dopo la loro mobilitazione, prima che i tedeschi occupassero il forte.
