La fondazione della Biblioteca Universitaria di Leuven risale al 1636. L'attuale edificio in Piazza Ladeuze (inaugurato nel 1928) è ancora oggi l'edificio universitario più impressionante della città. La biblioteca possiede collezioni patrimoniali molto ricche.
