Il parco Hanssens, con una superficie di 6 ettari, si trova presso la stazione di Vilvoorde.
Questo parco è stato realizzato circa un secolo fa su terreni paludosi appena al di fuori delle mura cittadine. Il parco è stato creato su incarico dell'amministrazione comunale, probabilmente in collaborazione con la locale scuola di giardinaggio.
Il parco è stato progettato secondo lo stile paesaggistico inglese romantico, piuttosto classico rispetto alla tendenza generale dell'epoca. Al centro è stato creato un lago utilizzato come laghetto per la pesca. Infatti, è stata data forma a una precedente conca d'acqua in modo che si integrasse con l'intero parco. Da segnalare è il bel ponte sospeso in ferro che attraversa un restringimento del lago. Questo ponte sospeso è stato posizionato a 3,5 m di altezza sopra il livello dell'acqua.
Il parco Hanssens è stato riaperto nel 2004 dopo un'ampia ristrutturazione.
