Beaumont, situata nella valle delle Hantes, è il luogo dove Napoleone soggiornò la notte prima della battaglia di Waterloo.
Beaumont si trova su una collina alta 70 m sopra le Hantes. La cittadina era difesa da un'imponente muraglia con una trentina di torri. Il principale reperto di questo è la Torre della Salamandra del XII secolo.
Il paese è anche noto per le sue festività che si tengono ogni 5 anni la prima domenica di ottobre. In quel giorno si ricorda la leggenda dell'Imperatore Carlo e dei tre mercanti. Quando l'Imperatore decise di fare una passeggiata, fu sollevato in sella da tre mercanti che non si resero conto di chi fosse. Dopo essere tornato a piedi, fece impiccare i trois mercanti nella piazza centrale.
Beaumont è anche conosciuta per i suoi macaron.
