Beaumont, gelegen in de vallei van de Hantes, is de plaats waar Napoleon verbleef de nacht voor de slag van Waterloo.
Beaumont ligt op een 70 m hoge heuvel boven de Hantes. Het stadje werd verdedigd door een indrukwekkende omwalling met een 30-tal torens. Het belangrijkste overblijfsel hiervan is de 12e eeuwse Salamandertoren.
Het plaatsje is ook gekend voor zijn festiviteiten die gehouden worden om de 5 jaar op de eerste zondag van Oktober. Dan wordt de legende van Keizer Karel en de drie marktkramers herdacht. Toen de Keizer een ritje ging maken werd hij uit het zadel getild door drie marktkramers die niet beseften wie hij was. Na zijn terugkeer te voet liet hij hen opknopen op het centrale plein.
Beaumont is evenees gekend voor zijn macraons.
