Beaumont, situada en el valle de los Hantes, es el lugar donde Napoleón pasó la noche antes de la batalla de Waterloo.
Beaumont se encuentra en una colina de 70 m sobre los Hantes. La ciudad fue defendida por una impresionante muralla con unas 30 torres. El principal vestigio de esto es la Torre Salamandra del siglo XII.
El lugar también es conocido por sus festividades que se celebran cada 5 años el primer domingo de octubre. En ese momento se conmemora la leyenda del Emperador Carlos y los tres vendedores del mercado. Cuando el emperador salió a dar un paseo, fue levantado del sillín por tres vendedores que no se dieron cuenta de quién era. Tras regresar a pie, él los dejó colgar en la plaza central.
Beaumont también es conocida por sus macarons.
