Ospita un'ampia panoramica di sei secoli di pittura fiamminga e belga, da Jan van Eyck a Marcel Broodthaers. Tra i molti punti salienti del museo vi è la collezione di arte "primitiva fiamminga", opere di un ampio ventaglio di maestri del Rinascimento e del Barocco, così come una selezione di dipinti provenienti dai periodi neoclassico e realistico del XVIII e XIX secolo, pietre miliari del simbolismo e del modernismo belga, opere maestre dell'espressionismo fiammingo e molti oggetti dalla collezione cittadina di arte moderna post-bellica.
