Il rimessaggio era un tempo parte di un più grande complesso del castello. Nel 1815 questo castello fu per alcuni mesi la residenza del generale inglese Mercer, che si preparava qui a Strijtem per infliggere una lezione ai francesi a Waterloo sotto la guida di Wellington.
