Nella Markgavelei passi accanto a una delle chiese più notevoli di Anversa: la chiesa di San Lorenzo. Il paragone è leggermente esagerato, ma l'edificio ricorda in qualche modo la Hagia Sophia di Istanbul. È stato infatti costruito in stile neobizantino. In questo bel posto c'è molto altro da vivere. Il Caffè Kamiel e l'osteria di fronte Taverne De Grave non danno scampo a fame e sete. Il Hof van Leysen è un delizioso parco di quartiere. E intorno all'angolo trovi F.X. de Beukelaer, la distilleria dove nasce il raffinato Elixir d'Anvers.
