La chiesa di San Martino fu costruita all’inizio del ventesimo secolo. La prima
pietra fu posata nel 1907.
L’edificio venne terminato nel 1914 quando scoppiò la prima guerra mondiale 1914. L’architetto Van Gheluwe, di Namur ne elaborò la pianta ; alla sua morte
l’architetto De Noyette de Ledeberg la rimaneggiò completamente.
L’edificio di grande portamento, corrisponde a citi) che desiderava Leopoldo 11 : impressionare favorevolmente gli stranieri al loro ingresso in Belgio ed essere degno di un capoluogo di provincia.
