Poesele è un comune nella provincia belga di Fiandre orientali e una frazione di Deinze. A sud del paese scorre il Poekebeek. Una vecchia menzione di Poesele risale a un documento del 1121 come Poksela. Questo nome è una fusione di Poka o del Poekebeek e sali, una parola germanica per una casa contadina con una sola stanza. La signoria di Poesele apparteneva inizialmente alla famiglia van Beveren, burgomastri di Diksmuide. Dal 1284 fino alla fine dell'ancient régime, fu sotto il dominio dei signori di Nevele.
