Hemiksem è un comune nella provincia belga di Anversa. Hemiksem conta circa 11.000 abitanti. Il villaggio si trova sulla riva destra dello Schelda, a pochi chilometri a sud della città di Anversa. Hemiksem si trova nella regione Rupel e appartiene al cantone elettorale e al cantone giudiziario di Boom. Hemiksem è stata menzionata per la prima volta nel 1155, con il nome di Hamincsem. Nel 1243, i cistercensi provenienti da Vremde arrivarono a Hemiksem e fondarono l'abbazia di San Bernardo, che ottenne anche il governo della signoria di Hemiksem.
