Brussegem è una località e frazione di Merchtem nella provincia belga di Fiandre Orientali, a circa 10 km da Bruxelles. Il santo patrono di Brussegem è San Stefano. Brussegem è stata un comune autonomo fino alla riforma comunale del 1977. Brussegem ha una storia molto lunga che risale all'epoca franca, quando il villaggio di Brussingaheim fu fondato. Con la fusione nel 1977 con Merchtem, il borgo di Oppem, che fino ad allora faceva parte di Brussegem, fu separato e unito al comune di Meise.
