Lamorteau è un comune della provincia belga di Lussemburgo e una frazione di Rouvroy nel distretto di Virton.
Alla fine dell'Ancien Régime, furono istituiti i comuni e Lamorteau fu inserito nel comune di Harnoncourt, il cui centro si trova a un chilometro e mezzo a nord-est di Lamorteau. Nel 1823 furono attuate grandi ristrutturazioni comunali in Lussemburgo e il comune vicino di Torgny fu soppresso e accorpato a Harnoncourt. Il nuovo comune fu rinominato Lamorteau, dal nome del villaggio che si trovava tra gli altri nuclei di Harnoncourt e Torgny. Tuttavia, nel 1853 Torgny fu nuovamente separato da Lamorteau e nel 1906 anche Harnoncourt fu staccato come comune autonomo.
