Ne 'Le dune e i polder di Zwinduinen' erano situati molti campi minati. Nel 1944, gli occupanti diffusero mine terrestri su tutto l'aeroporto rendendolo inservibile. Il campo minato ricevette il nome in codice '114 Odette 712'. C'erano circa 12.000 mine. La maggior parte dei campi minati furono bonificati durante la seconda guerra mondiale dalle truppe alleate, ma un certo numero di mine rimaste ha causato in seguito incidenti mortali.
