Questa basilica dedicata al culto della Vergine è un luogo di pellegrinaggio che ha conosciuto molte feste importanti. L'edificio si trova sulla cima di una collina sulla riva destra della Vesder. Appartiene ai Carmelitani che hanno un monastero accanto. È una chiesa olandese, di stile gotico primitivo, consacrata nel 1899. La chiesa ha subito molti danni durante le due guerre mondiali. All'interno colpiscono soprattutto i due grandi affreschi degli anni '50. Sul retro della chiesa, sopra l'ingresso, si trova un'immensa pittura intitolata ‘La pompa di Chévremont’. È opera di Léon de Bruyn e rappresenta i duemila anni di storia di questo luogo. Nella navata laterale si può ammirare il dipinto ‘La gloria di San Giuseppe’ di Joseph Bonvoisin. Nell'abside si trova l'altare maggiore in pietra blu di Soignies, sormontato da un baldacchino sotto il quale si trova la statua della Vergine del Carmelo.
