La moschea è stata fondata dall'Associazione Islamica e Culturale Marocchina di Winterslag. L'edificio è intitolato a Hassan ibn Thabit, poeta e compagno di Mohammed. È stata inaugurata il 26 maggio 2002. La moschea si trova in Noordlaan 133 nel quartiere di Winterslag a Genk. La struttura ha un aspetto modernista, anche se le caratteristiche di base di una moschea marocchina, come un minareto ottuso e quadrato, sono chiaramente visibili. Qui il minareto è sormontato da alcuni cubi, sopra i quali si trova una cupola. All'interno si possono trovare altre caratteristiche, come la decorazione del soffitto con ornamenti in stucco, realizzati con l'ausilio di stampi e poi fissati al soffitto. Infine, c'è il soffitto relativamente basso con molte colonne.
