La croce di Ludvina fu eretta nel 1782 nel belga Brakelbos in memoria di Ludvina Bruggelinck, una ragazza di 21 anni della Bosstraat, che fu assassinata in questo luogo nella foresta il 16 giugno 1738. Diverse storie circolano riguardo a questo omicidio.
Jean Baptist Van Loo, parroco di Opbrakel alla fine del XIX secolo, scrisse nelle sue Mischie di Opbrakel: Secondo le leggende popolari, questo orrore sarebbe stato causato da un cavaliere di passaggio, che spinto da una furia malvagia, avrebbe aggredito la figlia mentre era intenta a falciare l'erba. Sebbene noto, il colpevole, grazie a una manovra evasiva, è riuscito a sfuggire alla giustizia. Una croce di legno indica ancora oggi il luogo dove è avvenuto il misfatto.
